2010-08-25 14:59:41 by thedudeofdudeness Q: This has probably been asked before, but I'm still curious about it. In order of me liking (and sometimes growing out of them), these have been (some of) my favorite bands so far. (I'm 15 right now). 11 years old Green Day, Pop/Hip Hop stuff I don't remember 12 Green Day, The Beatles 13 Green Day, The Beatles, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182 14 The Beatles, The Ramones, Cock Sparrer, The Clash, The Vandals, Blink 182, Green Day (Latter half of being 14) Creedence Clearwater Revival, Boston, The Beatles, The Clash, The Ramones, Kansas, Bob Dylan, Jethro Tull 15 The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jethro Tull, The Clash, Yes, Kansas, Boston, Keith Green, Billy Joel, Rhapsody of Fire, Grateful Dead, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Electric Light Orchestra, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd Well, I've changed a lot as far as my music tastes go. Please share the story of how your musical taste has changed if you feel like it. Should be interesting =) Thanks!!! @What is Up First, I actually thought the Green Day cover was the original...I was a dummy. Then I found out the Clash did it, and I currently forget the name of the band that did the original. Gotta look it up.....ok....Sonny Curtis and the Crickets =) (1 year, 10 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, and 23 hours ago.)

A: to honest i started out loving hip hop (50 cent, lil jon and almost every popular rapper in that time from 2002 to like 2005) now i listen to almost anything BUT hip hop (Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Queen, Thin Lizzy, Bob Marley, Wailing Souls, Rush, Genesis, King Crimson, Echo & the bunnymen, trance music, house music, Bad brains, dead kennedys, agnostic front, radiohead, jeff buckley, the seattle grunge bands, garage revival bands like the hives, strokes, jet, the vines and a whole lot more other music (1 year, 10 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, and 14 hours ago.)

2008-07-08 06:34:15 by Anna!!! Q: I like a pretty wide range of genres I like/listen to. Well, and by a wide range I mean, blues, rock/pop (mostly rock), and metal (sometimes). That's about it. And just because, I'll give you a list of the artists of have on my itunes playlist. You know, just to give you an idea of what I like and stuff. Ok, ready? AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Alan Parsons Project, Alice in Chains, The Animals, Audioslave, B-52's, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Bad Company, Beastie Boys, The Beatles, Beck, Black Sabbath, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Blue Man Group, Blue Oyster Cult, Bob Dylan, Boston, Buffalo Springfield, Bush, The Cars, Chumbawamba, Clash, Creed, Crowded House, David Bowie, David Gilmour, Deep Purple, Derek & The Dominoes, Dire Straits, Don McLean, The Doors, Eagles, Edgar Winter, Electric Light Orchestra, Elton John, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Eric Clapton, Faith No More, Foo Fighters, Foreigner, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Guns N' Roses, Heart, Ides of March... ...Iron Butterfly, Iron Maiden, Janis Joplin, Jeff Beck, Jeff Buckley, Jefferson Airplane, Jethro Tull, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Modest Mouse, Muse, Neil Young, Nirvana, Oasis, The Offspring, Ozzy Osbourne, Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, The Police, The Pretenders, Puddle Of Mudd, Queen, Queens of the Stone Age, The Raconteurs, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, The Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Sammy Hagar, Santana, Sex Pistols, Shinedown, Silversun Pickups, The Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Steve Miller Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stone Temple Pilots, Styx, Supertramp, System of a Down, Talking Heads, Ted Nugent, Temple of the Dog, Tom Petty, U2, Van Halen, The Verve, Weezer, Weird Al Yankovic, The White Stripes, The Who, Wolfmother, Yes, ZZ Top, 30 Seconds to Mars. Well, that's it. =) Here's the list of some of the bands I don't like. Linkin Park, Panic at the Disco, Skillet, Reliant K, Good Charlotte, Backstreet Boys (If you could change the font, that would have been in italics. I mean, seriously, Who likes the Backstreet Boys?) (No offense to whoever likes the Backstreet Boys or the person that suggested them) =) (4 years, 2 months, 1 week, 5 days, and 8 hours ago.)

A: Since you mention the Ramones, you should try The Buzzcocks who are also great melodic punk. Also look for music from The Choir (think Joshua Tree-era U2) and Funkadelic (since you like RHCP). (4 years, 2 months, 1 week, 5 days, and 14 hours ago.)

2011-12-08 21:37:57 Q: I recall hearing a recording of an orchestra playing, "Three Blind Mice". This was about 12 years ago. As I recall, it was a demonstration of what how a simple tune can be converted into a powerful piece of music. It may have been played by The London Symphony Orchestra or Boston Pops, or perhaps some other orchestra. I believe the piece started out soft and gentle, as if the mice were frolicking about, and eventually reached a crescendo. Try as I may, I've been unable to find any information about this recording. For this to stick in my fragile memory it must have impressed me. Does anyone else recall hearing it? (5 months, 3 weeks, 2 days, and 16 hours ago.)

A: Eric Coates included 'Three Blind Mice' in his orchestral suite 'The Three Men'. It was the basis of a fugal passage in 'The Man from the Sea', which is in the style of a hornpipe. It's on disc 2 of this 2 CD set - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Music-Eric-Coates/dp/tracks/B000025W0D/ref=dp_tracks_all_2#disc_2 And you don't "reach a crescendo", because crescendo means 'becoming gradually louder'. 2007-12-21 09:17:21 by Will Turner Q: Which film composer do you think should become the next conductor at Boston Pops after John Williams (especially at christmas concerts)? A. James Newton Howard B. Danny Elfman C. James Horner D. John Debney E. Alan Silvestri Depending on which film composer you love, who should be the next conductor performing at the Boston Pops? I think James Newton Howard could be the next one, 'cause his music is breathtaking, suspenseful, intense, powerful, and heroic. Post a response and share your thoughts. Choose your film composer and explain why he should be the next conductor to perform at the Boston Symphony Orchestra and other concerts (especially during the Christmas Holidays)?Simple answers will NOT be rated. A: Danny Elfman would be my choice to take the reigns of the Boston POPS... just because his music is so awesome and I think he would change the trend of top 10 music only and branch off over to more abstract music (like his band Oingo Boingo). Elfman would probably make a lot of changes for the better and I would definetely take more interest in the Boston POPS if he were the conductor. 2010-06-27 09:17:58 by Anon. Q: This is my first time going to this music festival, and I don't know much about the level of formality of it. I'm going on July 2nd, which is a Boston Pops Orchestra performance. I'm sitting in the music shed, not the lawn. I'm female. What would be appropriate to wear? (2 years, 3 weeks, and 5 hours ago.)

A: its always nice to wear a pencil/bubble/high-waisted skirt with a simple tank top or v-neck tee with a cardigan over, and heels or flats. since its an orchestra performance, do not wear jeans or shorts or anything. of course you can wear a dress and a cardigan over, it`ll look cute too. good luck and have fun!
